Just wrapped up a 2-day music video shoot in and around my apartment. Jon DiMaio is directing/producing, and I think we bagged what we were looking for. I walked a lot, and tried to look no more melancholic and reflective than usual. We listened to Beyonce's Lemonade in between takes, but I don't think it's influence on this video will be too obvious.
What a surreal weekend. Thank you Vestnytt for the evidence that all of this actually happened. Thank you to the good people of Sotra for cheering me on Friday. I shall return!
Hey folks and friends. I'm lucky enough to get a lil' taste of summer and (hopefully) fall in the Great North Woods this month. Current plans: swim in lakes, record an EP about my summer drive up the Mississippi River, drink plenty of Bell's 2H, and play these shows...
A hearty thank you to family, friends, and former strangers who gave me shelter as I hawked Hungry Heartland across the Midwest and Northeast last month. My shows in Montpelier, Portland, Cambridge, and New York City were among the best I have played on my own. I sha'n't be gone long!
Here is a glimpse of what went down...
Jamie Kallestad is a songwriter from Cloquet, MN. A longtime guitarist and vocalist for the stomp-grass trio Saint Anyway, he is also one half of the Americana duo 90-Mile Portage. Writing from life and travel, Jamie’s songs take place in the upper midwest, up and down the great Mississippi River Road—Highway 61—as well as Northern Norway, New England, and New Orleans. In 2017, Jamie served as artist-in-residence for the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Northern Michigan and wrote three songs inspired by that experience. He currently lives in Watertown, MA and is busy recording new songs, among other things.
